Aviation Superintendent, Facilities & Services Aviation Department Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport

Gary Lovgren is an Aviation Superintendent in Facilities & Services Aviation Department at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.  He manages day-to-day administrative activities relating to airfield and facilities maintenance for Shy Harbor, Deer Valley and Goodyear airports. He works with the Electrical, Mechanical (HVAC), Energy Management, and Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) Teams.  Responsibilities include lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, fire alarm, access control, building automation, lighting control, environmental sensors, energy management, lock shop, HVAC, chiller plants, auto doors, fire sprinkler, pumps, passenger boarding bridges, gate/barriers, weld shop, BHS central control room, electronic controls, and servers.

Gary has worked for the City of Phoenix for 20 years holding positions in the Water and Public Works Departments, with the last 10 years in the Aviation Department. He has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Management from Grand Canyon University and completed an Aviation Management Development Certification from Embry-Riddle University. He is a certified Electrician and holds American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Airport Certified Employee (ACE) certifications for Airfield Lighting, Safety, and Trusted Agent. He is an active member of American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (SWAAAE), Arizona Airports Association (AZAA), and   International Facilities Management Association (IFMA).

Gary is a 27-year retired veteran of the United States Air Force with a combination of service on Active Duty and the Arizona Air National Guard.
